Ultimate Blog Party 2013

Welcome to our little corner of the interwebz! So glad you stopped by today

I’m a 30 year old mother to an adorable little man, Mason, who just turned three! Typical three year old, Mason loves tractors, trains, trucks, mud, and Mickey Mouse. 90% of my blog posts are about him as this blog was originally started as a replacement for the standard boring baby book. The other 10% are what’s going on in my head and my life, and while I say this every year, I hope to balance this out more as Mason gets older.

Mason with ValentinesI share my life with my wonderful husband (known around these parts as SuperDad), an awesome retired racing greyhound, and an elderly kitty. I’m very passionate about greyhounds, pet adoption, and animals in general. I work full time in a vet clinic and also have a hobby job working a few hours a month at a local bookstore!

Joe the GreyhoundPrior to having a kid, I spent all of my free time reading and volunteering at my local animal shelter. Since having a kid, I spend all of my (sadly limited) free time trying to find fun things to do with a toddler in Middle of Nowhere, Wisconsin, reading blogs on my Kindle Fire, and have vowed to get in shape this year for the first time in my life. I’m hoping to run a few 5ks this summer using the Couch to 5k plan and I just broke off my relationship with Jillian Michaels last week, but I’m afraid we’ll have to kiss and make up soon.

Easter MasonI’ve been blogging at this site since April 2010. I’ve had two other blogs before this and have been reading blogs since the ’90s when they were known as “online journals.” These days, I read blogs to establish relationships with other moms, which seems hard to do in real life because I work during the very few “mommy and me” activities offered in my area. As far as blogging goes, I don’t care about the numbers, I just like to make new friends and treasure the friends I’ve already made! I love blogs by people with kids close to Mason’s age and/or blogs with photos that make me smile. I’m not into fashion and can’t craft to save my life, so you won’t see much of either of those things around here LOL

When I’m not blogging or visiting my friend’s blogs, you can usually find me on Twitter or updating my book lists GoodReads. I’m hoping to make it to BlogHer this year so please give me a shout if you’re going too! I’m so glad you stopped by today and I look forward to making some new bloggy friends while we party like it’s 2013!

So happy I stopped by from the Ultimate Blog Party. We share a huge love of animals. In my “other” life I am a certified cat behavior consultant. Our oldest kitty lived to be 24. I started blogging about my kids because it was so strange to feel very accomplished in my field and yet totally clueless in the parenting department. Blogging gave me the opportunity to meet so many other moms who feel the same as me. So it’s such a pleasure to discover your blog. http://www.twoloonsandabook.com

You describe how I’ve felt many times – how can I know so much about x and y and know everything there is to know about dog food for example, but have zero knowledge on toddler nutrition up until I was knee deep in toddlerhood? Glad I’m not the only one who has felt clueless at time. You’re lucky you’re not a dog behavior consultant or I would be hitting you up with some questions :o)

What adorable photos of your little guy and pup! Blogging is such a wonderful way to document the lives of our family and connect with others. Nice to meet you!

  3. Natalie

Thanks for stopping by my blog and nice to meet you! I love books and animals too…and I am also not very crafty 🙂

  4. Renda Rapp

Thanks for visiting me at http://rsohmystars.blogspot.com and pointing out my post issue! My 3-year-old is a boy as well. Aren’t they the best?! This is one of my favorite stages…so sweet and still needing mommy. My five-year-old already thinks I kiss him too much. What the hey? Nice to meet you!

  6. Amy

How did I not realize you were also in Wisconsin? (and if you are in the WI blogger FB group please forgive me for not connecting real name to blog name). Don’t think I’ll be attending BlogHer this year, but hopefully we’ll be doing some other WI meetups in the near future!

I LOVE penguins on your button! Wife of a Sailor told me you loved penguins but I didn’t know how much! I’m coming by from UBP13. I thought I was already following your blog but I guess not:( That’s been fixed!

Hello! I have a little boy who is 2.5 years old and he inspires most of my posts. I found you via UBP. Glad to connect!
*note: not sure why it chose THAT picture when I logged in to comment. I’m not pregs anymore. LOL

Ohmygosh, Mason is so adorable!! I’ve been reading blogs since the 90s too, when our only options were Diaryland, Live Journal, etc. I’ve met some great friends through it! Thanks for visiting my blog 🙂 I’m a new FB follower.

    1. WeeMasonMan's Mom

I so remember Livejournal. And all the great drama when Diaryland crashed and people lost their data! My first website was a site on Tripod when I was 14. 16 years later, I’m blogging again. LOL

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog! I hope you’ll continue to come back and see what’s going on in our crazy life! I’ll be following you on Good Reads, one of my favorite things in the world!!! You’re Mason is absolutely adorable! And you’re grey hound is gorgeous!!! My brother recently adopted a pit bull shepherd mix which would have otherwise been put down. His name is Scrappy (because he looks just like Scrappy Doo!!) so I’m the auntie of the most adorable dog ever!!! 🙂 Have a great week!!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I can see why you write so much about your little guy, he is awfully cute!

  13. Katie Skelley

What a sweet little munchkin! Thank you for your comment over at Team Skelley. I have a good friend in East TN who is also passionate about greyhound rescue. It is a cause that is also near and dear to me, though the hounds that we rescue are usually a lot less graceful (and in the case of Baxter, much fatter) than yours-ha! Newest Twitter follower!

    1. WeeMasonMan's Mom

Hahaha, yeah, Baxter’s type is definitely a little more round and lumbering than a greyhound, but they make awesome pets too. I love their ears! Off to hunt you down on Twitter now 🙂

  14. tesha

Hi thanks for stopping by my blog:) I did not actually do a post for the blog party;/ I also blog to connect with other mommies and just to keep a baby book for ALL my babies:) Your son is sooooo adorable!

  15. Carrie A.

Thanks for visiting my blog! Your boy is adorable, my daughter is 4. Let me know if you need any advice on running, I just ran my third half marathon last weekend, BUT I started out running and walking up to a 5k! You just got a new follower 🙂
