Jamberry Nails Review & Giveaway

Jamberry Nails are vinyl adhesive nail wraps that form a water tight seal to your nail using heat and pressure. You can easily apply them at home and they last up to 2 weeks on fingers and 6 weeks on toes with no chipping, no dry time, and no nasty chemicals. It doesn’t matter if you have short fingernails, long fingernails, or are awful at painting your nails – Jamberry Nails work for just about everyone and there is over 300 styles to chose from. One sheet does 2 manicures and 2 pedicures and they come in both child and adult sizes.

reasons

My Story

I grew up with two older brothers who I idolized and thus, have never been much of a girly girl. I basically live in a t-shirt (or hoodie) and jeans and scrubs at work. I’ve always been awful at painting my nails. My bff and I use to go get manicures together (what fun!) and a day or two later, they’d be chipped all to heck and I’d feel bad about the wasted money. Thus, my nails have been naked for years.

In May, one of my friends started talking about Jamberry Nails on Twitter. She kept trying to get me to try a sample and I believe my response was “Eh, I don’t really have the time or patience to mess with a bunch of nail stuff these days. Plus, everything I do with my nails looks awful.” She kept offering and finally I took the bait and she sent me some samples.

I put them on the next day in my kitchen and the nails I didn’t have wraps on, I painted with glitter polish. The next morning, I wrecked the glitter polish buckling Mason into his car seat and had to touch it up at least daily, but even after two weeks, the Jamberry Nail wraps still looked great! I. Was. Hooked.

I participated in her Facebook party and won a SLEW of free stuff – enough Jamberry Wraps to do my nails every two weeks until December! Woohoo! The party was so fun and easy that I thought “What the heck, why don’t I have my own party?! More free nail wraps for me!”

To make a long story short, I decided I talk about Jamberry so much and since I was already trying to get everyone to try them enough that I should try to sell them! So I became a Jamberry Nails Independent Consultant! Now I have amazing nails AND get paid for introducing others to them – it’s a total win win.

Using Jamberry Nail wraps is super easy. All you need is a sheet of Jamberry Wraps, a heat source (a blow dryer or rice bag work fine), some rubbing alcohol, a nail file, a scissors and a a cuticle pusher. While the first application takes a little longer (as does anything the first time you do it!), I can apply a full manicure in under half an hour and don’t have to think about it again for two weeks!

allyouneed

Follower Appreciation Giveaway!

As I’ve mentioned a few times, I’m trying hard to get back into posting regularly. I’ve found that during my blogging lapse, I’ve really lost a lot of followers for one reason or another (mostly due to my silence I’m guessing) and only a few of my regulars ever bother stopping by anymore. (Hi Sarah, Colleen, Jayme, Randalin, Lori, and Melanie! *waves*)

I decided a fun way to get new people to visit us here would be to give some stuff away! Everyone likes a good giveaway, right?

Well, if you knew me outside of my computer, you would know that Pizza Hut has been one of my favorite restaurants for basically forever! I love their personal pan pizzas and when I worked in the same town as Pizza Hut, I would have one every week! Soooo, prize #1 is a $15 gift card so someone else can enjoy the yumminess too!

If you were to come to my house, you’d discover that we have Bath & Body Works soap at every sink. I love their foaming soap for the kitchen and their antibacterial soap for the bathroom and enjoy the different scents for different seasons! (Right now, we’re still rocking our Vanilla Bean Noel in the bathroom). Anyway, because of my B&BW love, I’m giving away a $20 gift card to their store!

There are lots of options to enter and the more ways you show our little blog some love, the better chance you have to win! I will draw TWO names in a week and I hope those of you who are following in a new manner (or are new followers period) will stick around and enjoy some fun with my little family on our little corner of the internet!

Kix Cereal – One Yummy Giveaway

Giveaway Closed: Winner

I grew up in a plain cereal home – none of those chocolate covered rings or those sugary cereals that turn your bowl into a rainbow of colors. Thus? I grew up eating Cheerios and Kix.

To be honest, in the past few years, I’d forgotten all about Kix, so when MomSpark offered me the chance to do a review and giveaway, I jumped at it since I remembered just loving them as a kid!

I am happy to report that years later, I still find Kix to be yummy and their new Honey Kix? What a great change to an old favorite! SuperDad, having never had Kix, also approved (and he did grow up on colorful chocolaty cereals!)

And Mason? Well, he apparently loves Kix too! They were just perfect size for his little baby hands to pick up and gumming them to death wasn’t a problem. Best of all? I didn’t feel like I was feeding him a bunch of crap!

Since you all know that I can’t cook, we’re definitely cereal eaters at my house. I don’t have the time, patience, or know how to throw down bacon, eggs, and french toast in the morning. I forsee a LOT of bowls of cereal in Mason’s future! But, according to research, that’s not a bad thing!

“Cereal is one of the healthiest breakfast choices parents can make. Ready-to-eat cereal has fewer calories than almost any other common breakfast option, while also being nutrient-dense and convenient. In addition, cereal eaters consume less cholesterol and more fiber than non-cereal eaters.”

So apparently I shouldn’t feel guilty that I have no plans to get up at 4 am and try to scramble some eggs and make french toast for Mason before school every morning, right? Instead, he’ll be eating some yummy, good for him, Kix. Good for him, you say? Yes!

“The “Kid-Tested Mother-Approved®”cereal is made with whole grain corn and is an excellent source of iron. It also is a good source of calcium, fiber, and Vitamins C and D. Original Kix has no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. “

The two boxes of cereal weren’t all that came with our Kix kit. Nope, we also got an awesome take along snack container (already perfect for Mason at this age – we can store munchies for the road or even just a few servings to sit near his high chair!), a sippy cup, a super cool HUGE 24 piece floor puzzle, and some counting flash cards. My little man is too young for the super cool stuff right now, but I can’t wait until we can put the large floor puzzle together – it looks like a lot of fun!

And now, you guys can enjoy good cereal and have fun too! Why? I’m giving away two identical prize packages!

Prize pack contains:

  • 24-piece counting-themed floor puzzle
  • Fun learning-to-count flashcards
  • A sippy cup
  • A portable snack container
  • A box each of Original Kix and Honey Kix cereals.

Mandatory Entry:

Leave a comment telling me how you make your busy morning routine special for your family.

Christmas Traditions

I’ve really been struggling to get into the Christmas spirit this year, which is really bumming me out! I usually have at least 1/2 my presents bought by now and a dozen ideas of what to get next and this year, I am just blaaah. I’m blaming it on stress and sickness (and having no clue what I myself want for Christmas, which is very very odd!) so I figured maybe if I did a Christmas meme (and entered to win a $1000 Gamestop gift card!) that might put me into the holiday spirit. Worth a try, right?

Mama’s Holiday Wish List Meme

TodaysMama and GameStop are giving away a sleighful of gifts this holiday season and to enter I’m sharing this meme with you.

1. What is your holiday wish for your family? This one is simple – good health! Between my worries over Mason’s head shape (his next follow-up is next week) and our endless coughing/sneezing/pink eye/pneumonia, I am SO ready to just be a healthy little family again that’s not doing drops, pills, breathing treatments, and oral antibiotics!

2. What is your Christmas morning / Hanukkah Nightly tradition? We don’t really have any big traditions, other than starting with our stockings first, so I’d really like to make some now that we have a little one! I’m guessing it’s going to pretty much stay the same – waking up and doing stockings, opening gifts, going to Grandma and Grandpa B’s for gifts and Christmas lunch, but I’d love to incorporate something more into there. When WeeMan gets a little older, I’m sure the “Look, Santa ate all the cookies!” will become part of the Christmas morning tradition!

3. If you could ask Santa for one, completely decadent wish for yourself, what would it be? A week long stress free vacation to somewhere sunny, warm, and full of tropical beaches, along with an endless budget to play and relax as I want!

4. How do you make the holidays special without spending any money? Our big somewhat free holiday tradition is driving around looking at Christmas lights. Yes, we have to buy gas, but considering we spend many hours and many nights on a single tank gas, it’s so worth it. We have specific houses and parks that we are sure to hit every year and it’s great quality time just focusing on us and the beauty of the holiday season. Giving Wee Man’s aversion to the car at night, we’re going to continue to tradition with our dogs (who LOVE car rides) this year and Mason will get some quality holiday time with his Grandmas!

5. What games did you play with your family growing up? Every now and then, we would play Battleship, but other than that, none really. My family wasn’t much of a game playing family. My parents were likely to be plunked down in front of the TV or working and I would be reading. I really look forward to being a more hands-on parent with Mason!

6. What holiday tradition have you carried on from your own childhood? Nothing really. My family didn’t make a huge deal AT ALL out of the holidays, so no real traditions except for a basic belief of Santa. We’d be out of town over Christmas but come home to presents that weren’t there when we left! How could we NOT believe?!) and I hope to make Santa a magical mysterious experience for Mason as well.

7. Where would you go for a Christmas/Hanukkah-away-from-home trip? When I was little, we’d travel to Milwaukee every year to visit relatives. My brother and I would stay with my grandparents and my parent’s would stay at a hotel.  My parents would show up at about 10 am and leave around 9 pm, so the mornings were just me and my brother and Grandma! I loved those 4 days at Grandma’s!

8. Check out GameStop and tell us, what are the three top items on your GameStop Wish List this year?

Active2 Bundle for the Wii – I had Active1 on reserve at the library for like 8 months and when it finally came, I had given birth to Mason a week earlier. Talk about bad timing!
Bejeweled 3 for the PC (I LOVE this game!!)
An XBox360 with Kinnect because it looks so awesome!

So there you have it! I’ll probably talk about it more in a future post, but I’m really looking forward to scrapping my boring “This Christmas, we opened presents and then watched TV” childhood and making Christmas a magical and special time for our whole family. And hopefully a sickness free one too!
