Weekly Wishes #7 :: May 5 – 11

Last month’s wishes:

Set my budget and stick to itA big fat negative on this one. I made my budget and didn’t look at it again. BUT, I did pretty good with discretionary spending, so I don’t think I came out too badly.

Last “Week’s” wishes:

1) Finish picking up my computer desk. Didn’t happen

2) Less TV Time, more Toy Time for Mason – Did great with this one. He’s watched way less TV and this weekend was the first time he played Wii in weeks.

3) Be a better blogger this week. Comment more and post more. Errr, nope. I did comment frequently for a few days there and then was basically offline the rest of the month.

4) Be a better wife this week. Make the most of our limited time together. Yes, I think this went well. I did several thoughtful things for him and we spent every evening after M went to bed together hanging out instead of on our computers.

5) Be a smart consignment sale seller and shopper – I rocked this. I didn’t buy Mason anything ridiculously unnecessary AND made more money than I spent AND had very few things that didn’t sell. A big score all the way around.

This month’s wishes:

Every dollar, on paper, going where I tell it to go.

Complete at least two weeks of T25.

This week’s wishes

1) Create a game plan now that Financial Peace University is finished (Monday)

2) Finish my site re-design and get moved over to NorthernMom.com

3) Strive to find some sort of balance. Surely I can find a way to read, spend time with my hubby, AND blog, right?!!? (Let me down gently on this one if I’m wrong please!

4) Start T25. I keep meaning to start 30 Day Shred but that’s sooo monotonous. I’ve heard T25 is better, so we shall see.

How about you? What do you hope to accomplish this week/month?

Weekly Wishes #6 :: April 7-13

Last week’s Wishes

1) Finish picking up my computer desk. – Didn’t happen, it looks worse now than it did last week :o(

2) Wean Mason from Wii Sports. – Not totally weaned, but he played much less this week than past weeks.

3) Buy my niece her birthday presents. – Yes, I got her a Watch it Grow Butterfly Garden and some Shrinky Dink Jewelry and art supplies. Thanks for the suggestions Lori, LeeAnn, and Jayme!

4) List items for sale on Facebook Buying/Selling Pages and get at least half of my consignment sale prep done. – Stuff is selling like hotcakes on Facebook – woohoo!! Consignment sale prep is… started.

5) Be a better friend. – Talked to my friends more but I should have put even more effort into this one.

This week’s Wishes –

1) Finish picking up my computer desk.

2) Less TV Time, more Toy Time for Mason

3) Be a better blogger this week. Comment more and post more.

4) Be a better wife this week. During SuperDad’s busy work week, we kind of end up being like two ships passing in the sea. Make the most of our limited time together.

5) Be a smart consignment sale seller and shopper. Get my stuff done in bits and pieces over the next three days instead of staying up till 2 am on Wednesday night doing it all at once. And then when I’m shopping, don’t fall into the “but it’s a good deal” trap! No buying Mason stuff that he’s almost too big for (even if it’s REALLY cute and he could wear it for a few months) and NO MORE toys. Unless of course, it’s the best deal ever *insert evil laugh here*

So, what are your hopes and wishes for this week? I’d love to hear about them!

Weekly Wishes #5

Well, I had basically three weeks to work on “last week’s” wishes and here’s how I did….

1) Get my house picked up. The best part of having company over is the results of the manic cleaning that happens right before they come. It’s been a week since Mason’s party at the house and our house is still looking good. Yay.

2) Not spend any more more (unplanned) money on Mason’s birthday party. Accomplished.

3) In bed by 10:30 every weeknight. Ummm, not so much. But better than before….

4) Get back into the swing of reading all four of my Bible reading plans every day. Accomplished,

5) Scale back – my endless to do list is starting to drag me down. Commit to stop over-committing. Um, did you notice I didn’t blog for two weeks? Well, that was the only thing I let go by the wayside. Oops.

My goal for April – Set my budget and stick to it. I made a budget for March and totally ignored it and overspent in every area. April is the month that I get back on track!

And my weekly goals

1) Finish picking up my computer desk. I posted a picture on Instagram and the 40 Bags Facebook group this morning to shame myself into finishing it and I only got about halfway done today. I WILL finish it.

2) Wean Mason from Wii Sports. This kid is ridiculously addicted to playing tennis, golf, and baseball on the Wii. It’s fantastic exercise (seriously, this kid jumps and dances around until he’s soaked with sweat) but it’s become the root of all tantrums, every conversation, and way too much begging around here so something has to give.

3) Buy my niece her birthday presents. Any suggestions for a girl turning five? I don’t see them very often, so I don’t know what she’s “in to” which makes it harder.

4) List items for sale on Facebook Buying/Selling Pages and get at least half of my consignment sale prep done. The consignment sale starts the 10th and I just got my totes out yesterday. I want to try to sell some stuff for 100% profit on Facebook before it goes to the consignment sale and they take their 30% cut.

5) Be a better friend. I’ve been finding lately that up to a week goes by before I talk to friends that I use to talk to daily. I need to reach out more and make sure that stops happening.

Weekly Wishes #3

Last week’s wishes:

1) Spend more quality time with my husband. I think I did well with this and it was the big reason I didn’t blog as much during the week.

2) Continue drinking less pop and more water or milk. Days I worked, this went well. Days I didn’t work, this didn’t happen

3) Cross two avoided tasks off my never-ending “to do” list at home Two things accomplished!

4) Get back into the habit of filling out my gratitude journal and Mason’s “daily favorite thing” journal. Not perfect, but I stayed caught up enough that I only had to play catch up for one day at a time

5) Get caught up in my reading. 14 books checked out, two read, and I have to read two more in the next week to stay on track. Doable.

This week’s wishes:

1) Get invitations for Mason’s birthday party squared away and passed out

2) Decide on a new blog title and domain name

3) Start either making my step goal or playing with Jillian Michaels again. Yes, I’m threatening myself. Think it will work?

4) Quit stressing about Joe T Greyhound’s slumber party. I stress more about this dog spending the night away from home more than Mason. It’s borderline ridiculous (In my defense, Mason isn’t on any pain meds or occasionally weak legged)

5) Appear in some pictures that I take / are taken and try to get a new fantastic “headshot” of Mason. Not only am I NEVER in any pictures these days, I realized that my favorite picture of Mason right now is STILL the picture from Easter 2013. Time for a more recent favorite picture!

Weekly Wishes #2

Last week’s goals –

1) Drink at least twice as much water as pop each day. – I did good on this every day but Thursday and Sunday.

2) Pick back up my 365 Days of Greyhounds photo project. – Didn’t happen.

3) Comment on an average of at least five blogs a day. – I am pretty sure I managed this or  at least close to it!

4) Spend quality time with at least one, if not two friends this week. Reach out to at least one friend daily via text message. – Spent a fun day with my BFF Saturday, could have reached out more via text though.

5) Strive to eat a healthier breakfast every morning (I’m currently eating three granola bars for breakfast. Don’t look at me like that, I KNOW!) – Did okay with this, except on Thursday, Saturday, & Sunday. But in my defense, we were out of bananas LOL

6) Reasonable bedtime this week. – I was in bed by 11 every night but Thursday (sensing a theme here?) and Saturday. Pretty good!

The Nectar Collective

This week’s goals

1) Spend more quality time with my husband. I see him a lot one week and hardly at all the next – this is a week we can spend a lot of time together and I need to make sure it’s quality time, not just “in the same room” time.

2) Continue drinking less pop and more water or milk.

3) Cross two avoided tasks off my never-ending “to do” list at home

4) Get back into the habit of filling out my gratitude journal and Mason’s “daily favorite thing” journal. I’ve been slacking on both of these and that makes me sad.

5) Get caught up in my reading. I have 13 library books due in the next two and a half weeks. I’m obviously not going to finish them all, but I really need to at least make a dent in them!

What are your goals this week?

Weekly Wishes #1

A few weeks ago, I came up with a fairly lofty list of goals for 2014. I figured the best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time, so coming up with some smaller weekly goals should really help me achieve my bigger goals for the year, right?

And, it just so happens that there is an awesome link-up called “Weekly Wishes” hosted by The Nectar Collective for people to talk about what they want to accomplish each week. Lots of great blogs with great weekly goals – you should check it out!

My goals for this week

1) Drink at least twice as much water as pop each day. That means if I’m drink 20 oz of pop throughout the day, I need to also drink 40 oz of water as well. I want to cut down on my pop consumption, but I know going cold turkey doesn’t work for me, so hopefully this will help.

2) Pick back up my 365 Days of Greyhounds photo project. I fell off the bandwagon and am
kicking myself.

3) Comment on an average of at least five blogs a day.

4) Spend quality time with at least one, if not two friends this week. Reach out to at least one friend daily via text message. (AKA – don’t get so sucked into blogging/trip planning/message boards that you’re ignoring everyone else.)

5) Strive to eat a healthier breakfast every morning (I’m currently eating three granola bars for breakfast. Don’t look at me like that, I KNOW!)

6) Reasonable bedtime this week. I’ve scrambled into bed near midnight way too often lately.

What are your goals for the week?

2014 Goals

I realize it’s nearly February, but it took me basically all month to figure out what I wanted my year to look like – if I wanted to focus on a single concept, if I wanted to make a bucket list, or if I wanted to do nothing at all. I decided on a few goals:

1) Pay off all of my credit card debt. After becoming debt free in 2008 and staying that way for several years, I’m mad that I’ve let (non-mortgage) debt back into my life. That’s going to change this year.

2) Plan and save for our January 2015 trip to Disney. I’ve only been there once (as a 19 year old) and SuperDad and Mason never have. I want it to be epic. You’ll definitely be hearing more about this over the next year.

3) Continue my 365 Projects – I’m trying to take a photo a day for Capture the Moment, a greyhound photo a day because the years go by too quickly, Mason’s “Favorite Things” journal, my gratitude journal, and if that’s not enough, I’m also doing Joyce Meyer’s “Promises for Your Everyday Life” 365 days of scripture.

4) Do what I need to do to get into size 8 pants and improve my strength. I lost 18 pounds and 1 1/2 pants sizes last year only to gain nearly ten pounds back between Thanksgiving and New Years. Ugh. And those of you who know me, I know I don’t need to lose a bunch of weight, but this body definitely needs some toning!

5) Grow in my relationship with God, whether that be through church, SheReadsTruth, YouVersion, all of the above, or something else. “Testing out” a church last May with only the intention of finding a Sunday School program for Mason was one of the best things that happened to me last year.

6) Spend more time outside than inside once the temps are above 60º.

7) Read Mason ~520 books to stay on track for the 1000 Books before Kindergarten” project. Read 90 books for me. I vow to be a book lover who raises a book lover.

8) Do lots and lots of things together as a family – make lots of memories and take a lot of pictures along the way

9) Continue blogging at least twice a week and work harder at supporting my blog friends.

10) Enrich my relationship with my husband, parents, and friends by spending quality time with them in person every month and having open regular communication.

I realize this sounds like a lot, but many of them are so inner-connected, such as paying off debt and planning the Disney Trip, spending time outside and taking photos and making memories, etc. I think the biggest struggle for me is going to be finding the motivation to get back on track with my fitness goals and finding the time to spend time with my parents and friends – something I want to make a priority!
